British Inline Skater Hockey Association (BiSHA) Limited is the National Governing Body for Skater Hockey in Great Britain. BiSHA is affiliated to the International Governing Body for Skater Hockey, the International Inline Skater Hockey Federation (iiSHF) and British Roller Sports Federation (BRSF) – the umbrella body of skating disciplines in the UK.
The game of Skater Hockey is fast, exciting and full contact, operating under similar rules to Ice Hockey although visually it has it's differences.
The game is played with a regulation ball as opposed to a puck, and players wear inline roller skates instead of ice skates.
Matches are played in leisure centres and purpose built rinks throughout the country. Each team is permitted to have 5 players on the pitch and this is usually four outfield players and a goalkeeper
The regular season runs from 1st January until 31st October with National Finals being held during November of each year.
BiSHA have a Great Britain Men's, Juniors, U21 and Women squads. All our Great Britain squads compete against fellow IISHF affiliated national squads in annual iiSHF European Championships.
BiSHA are looking into the possiblity of forming a national Great Britain Squad for both Youth and Peewee age groups. This will give ALL BiSHA players the opportunity to play for Team Great Britain.
BiSHA are working closely with other disciplines to form one umbrella body with the aim of achieving Olympic status. BiSHA has now achieved Sports Council recognition and forms part of British Roller Sports Federation (BRSF) – the umbrella body of skating disciplines.
BiSHA run referee courses for new referees and timekeepers, each of whom, on passing an examination, are licensed and regularly assessed. Referees gain experience within their leagues and have the opportunity to up-grade. They also have the opportunity to gain further experience by using their skills in International tournaments at home and abroad. Britain now has 16 International Premier Grade 1 Referees.
